Heading further into the 2024 Golden Quarter, our latest issue looks into how golden it is actually going to be as we see festive family purchases getting later in recent years. We also focus on the transition into Q1 2025.

Craft Buddy
TnP talks to Craft Buddy director, Gary Wadhwani, who tells us the story so far, what’s next and beyond that. Gary’s positive and entertaining story unravels the whys, wherefores and strategy that have brought Craft Buddy to where it is today.

Our retail columnist, John Ryan, comments on the “golden quarter” and looks ahead to and contrasts with Q1 2024 – this on top of our info, product and views packed Q1 feature also headlining as well as our Ride Ons feature with what to expect from this popular sector as we head into a new year.

It’s budgeting times all round – retailers, suppliers, the government – everyone and everywhere, however there are major positives on top of the negative backgrounds.

We start with the first Autumn Budget of the new Labour government. We look at the most relevant and coherent take on it we’ve seen so far. It comes from Helen Dickinson, British Retail Consortium CEO who looks at the effect on retail and its supply chain.

Meanwhile, showtime is heading TnP’s way. Toy Fair, Nuremberg and further afield, it’s all gearing up for January’s extravaganzas. We have up-to-date coverage from the BTHA for Toy Fair.

Our regular and increasingly popular Toy Testers pages get the views from the ones that really matter, the kids – there’s some really good product testing covering both Asmodee and Wilton Bradley. Monkey Palace, Pear Shaped gaming, and then dinosaurs on the table, and five year old Logan riding a cool Italian motor bike – one with an actual motor! – on the seafront.

On the retail side, operations director Andrew Addley from Toytown speaks to our retail editor, Clare on the award winning independent chain’s portfolio, products and predictions for Christmas trading, and director and toy buyers Ellen and Brendan on changes they are making at Will’s Toy Shop in Scotland.

One of our ever informative, entertaining and insightful columnists – the one from the actual Insights Family – looks at the toys and games’ journey from kids love of life to adult deep pocket commercial reminiscences.
