Exciting new products, insightful delving and much more are your June delights — not least the Toymaster May show review and a wonderful new retail column — it’s all waiting for you in the June TnP
May was Showtime. Again. With Toymaster something of a mixed bag (weather and business) but ultimately a success as you will see in our review. The Las Vegas Licensing Expo was a positive experience too: 12,000 attendees engaging with 5,000 brands – not bad at all. And then there was Distoy, a healthy financial success for both retailers and suppliers – with many happy to comment on this.
On a very sad note, we have obituaries for Jane Garner and Clive Wooster. Both were written by those who knew them well.
We also have a happier, younger tune with our Ambassador’s Special. This sees seven-year-old Amelia back in tester mode and enjoying her time on Maped Creativ’s Lumi Board
We catch up with Mark Hunt, marketing director at Character Options. He fills us in on their new Terror Fried range, launching August. Never mind the kids, we’re pretty excited about it too.
On the TnP columnist front, Paul Wohl of Argosy Toys, has written a hugely entertaining piece for us on his on his 37 years running a toy shop. Shoplifting gets a coat-lined mention and he wonders what to do with his ageing stock of 160 sledges when the snow doesn’t fall any more.
Needa Kahn, from the Insights Family, explores the ‘phygital’ world. And if you don’t know what that word means, have a read about this rapidly evolving trend.
Also on the retail front, we have a very interesting chat with John Bentley of the four-store Howleys Toys West Country Toymaster chain.
Our features cover tech toys, dolls and collectibles plus wheeled toys with the latter two having some excellent insider comments.
Finally, there are the usual favourites – What’s New, Don’t Miss, Month in Numbers, Talking Retail and more (not least some excellent and fully up-to-date news pieces.
So take time out and enjoy the read.
