As reported earlier this week, the Fence Club chairman and fan club have started their epic 38 km walk around the historical WW1 battlefields in Ypres, Belgium. This is no mean feat given that, according to Google, the average person walks just four km a day!
The region is of real significance to several of the walking fundraisers. Some had relations in the battles, while others share similar family stories of heroism & bravery throughout what we call the “Great War” of 1914-1918.
The Fence Club Chairman, Jon Gregory of Intertoy and his 11 intrepid toy heroes face an arduous endeavour. However, their good humour, the incredible sites and sights – plus quite possibly the odd beer will see them through.
Odd beers aside, the purpose of the Chairman’s walk is to raise as much money as possible for the Fence Club charity, where every penny raised goes to good causes that support children and families in dire need.
All of us at TnP wish them luck!
