The Entertainer celebrates 40 years in business this year and is planning to give away £27,000 in gift vouchers and hold free parties in all its stores.Â
The £27,000 giveaway is open to all toys. Four random lucky shoppers in every store will be selected to win a gift voucher for The Entertainer, with the value of up to £40. Customers can enter in-store by submitting their own ‘The Entertainer birthday card’ design. In addition, the Entertainer is offering 40 shoppers who spend online between 3 September and 6 September the chance to win back their whole basket.
And on the weekend of 4 September and 5 September, every Entertainer store will throw a party for shoppers, complete with music, party games and activities, giveaways and more.

“Since opening our doors in 1981, we’ve continued to see generation after generation shop with us and buy the nation’s favourite games and toys. We’ve also seen our customers give back via the Pennies scheme [the digital upgrade of the traditional charity collecting box, which enables customers to donate a few pence to charity at the point of sale when paying by card] with almost £4 million raised to date, and by donating almost 70,000 toys to our Toy Rehoming campaign in partnership with The Salvation Army. We’re looking forward to giving our staff and customers a fun-filled weekend and putting smiles on the faces of young shoppers everywhere.â€
The specialist retailer was founded in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, by husband-and-wife team Gary and Catherine Grant who, along with two of their sons, instil the company’s mission: “To be the best-loved toyshop – one child, one community at a time.†Today, it operates 171 stores in the UK and a successful website (TheToyShop.com) which offers a 30-minute click and collect service and has over 29 million visits annually.
The Entertainer is also recognised for its charitable giving. Each year it tithes 10% of its pre-tax annual profit to charity. In addition, employees are encouraged to donate directly through Payroll Giving, with The Entertainer matching each donation pound for pound and raising over £1 million to date.
