Spin Master UK recently completed its Step Up September Challenge, which challenged staff to travel the furthest distance they could in 30 days.

Employees smashed their previous goal of 3,650 miles set back in March, by collectively clocking up 9,008 miles throughout the month. Each 10 miles travelled equalled one toy donation to charity. So in total, staff donated 900 toys to children most in need.

Split into four teams, each fundraising for a different local charity, the Spin Master UK office members were out in force tackling 38 different ways of creating distance from walking, running and cycling to kayaking. Some travelled as far as London as they ran past some of the capital’s tourist hotspots including Buckingham Palace and the gates to Downing Street. The winning team then had its donations doubled, taking the final total to more than 1,000 toys for children in the local area.

The four charities that will be receiving toys from Spin Master UK are Home Start Slough, Wycombe Women’s Aid, The Dash and Little Village. Each does important work supporting those experiencing the effects of domestic violence and those who need help providing clothes and toys for their families.

A spokesperson for Little Village said: “We are so grateful that Spin Master UK will be gifting toys for the families we support. We know first-hand how crucial toys and play are to early years development, and unfortunately one of the many injustices of living in poverty is that children miss out on the joy of play. Step Up September means that toys will be gifted to children who can now experience this joy.”

Commenting on her involvement in the initiative, Nordics brand manager Robyn Woods said: “Step Up September has been a fantastic challenge that encouraged the whole Spin Master UK office to get fully involved and create the distance in any way possible. We have been able to help four very deserving charities, while having a lot of fun and unleashing the inner athlete within us along the way!”
