Simba Smoby UK is closing the year on a high, having seen month-after-month growth in its YoY sales figures. With just a few weeks of 2024 remaining, the firm has seen an uplift of 19 per cent over the same period in 2023.
The publication of the latest Circana data is reason to celebrate for the Simba Smoby UK team, with 19 per cent growth for November bringing the firm’s year-to-date number to +15 per cent, one of the highest increases in retail sales of the Top 30 Manufacturers.
“Of course, even within these circumstances, you still need to make it happen and these results are testament to the hard work put in from our teams both in Bradford and Marlow”
This positive news comes despite the reporting of a poor month for the industry at large, with November’s data showing a decline for the month of 14 per cent year-on-year.
Ben Hogg, head of marketing, Simba Smoby UK, said: “There’s no doubt that for suppliers and retailers alike this year, it is incredibly tough out there. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be in a position where the largest parts of our business have been able to achieve strong growth despite consumers spending less on toys.”
Ben continued: “We know every year the rush for Christmas purchases comes later and later, but luckily, we are less reliant than many other toy companies on the festive period alone. Our Disney Plush range is evergreen, with popular licences and price points that suit year-round sales, Smoby Outdoor drives excellent numbers for us in Spring/Summer and the Jada brand appeals to both child and adult collectors of pop culture products.
As Ben Hogg also said, “Of course, even within these circumstances, you still need to make it happen and these results are testament to the hard work put in from our teams both in Bradford and Marlow. Many retailers have commented it has been refreshing to see some good results in our recent previews and we hope to continue that in December and ahead of meeting our retail partners again in January at Toy Fair!”
