Some 1,200 or so industry types from the toy and licensing industry gathered in London’s Mayfair to celebrate the 2022 Licensing Awards.
The event at the Grosvenor in Park Lane kicked off with a perfectly observed minute’s silence to mark the passing of the Queen and ended with an award for a licence that has recently become synonymous with her, as Paddington won the Classic Licensed Property gong.
More than 30 awards were given out on the night, with familiar faces such as Bluey and Peppa Pig among those going home with trophies.
As well as paying tribute to the Queen, show organisers also highlighted the work of the licensing industry’s own charity, the Light Fund, which has now raised more than £2 million for good causes One of its leading lights, Stephen Gould, was presented with an honorary achievement award recognising his work in helping fundraise, with his gong closing the ceremony.
The event was hosted by returning TV celebrity and comic Tom Allen, who kept things moving briskly as the awards were handed out.
It was supported by a raft of sponsors, from headline sponsor Brand Licensing Europe, through to others such as regular TnP columnists The Insights Family.
