Floss & Rock has been recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
This coveted business award is presented annually in the UK and honours UK businesses that have demonstrated exceptional success in international trade, including exporting goods, services and expanding into new international markets.
Hailing from Lancashire and employing 19 people, Floss & Rock was formed in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Tim Hislop and Gill Stratton. The international children’s toy brand, which manufactures and distributes gifts and toys for children aged two to 10, has enjoyed spectacular export growth of 777% in the past six years.
Based in the seaside resort of Blackpool – the land of candy ‘Floss’ and sticks of ‘Rock’ – Floss & Rock keeps creativity at the very core of the business, with both owners equally passionate about outstanding design, quality and eco-friendly attributes.
Co-founders Tim and Gill said: “We are hugely honoured to receive The Kings Award for Enterprise for International Trade. We have loved growing our business internationally and working with amazing distributors and customers directly all over the world. We still have so much more to do and will continue to grow and develop new lines each season.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise was previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, and the new name reflects His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses.
The Award programme, now in its 57th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.

I wish them every success and commend the invaluable contributions they make to communities both at home and overseas, helping to grow the UK economy.”
Eligible businesses are free to apply for one or more categories. The recipients pass a robust assessment process, judged by experts from industry, academia, the voluntary sector and senior officials in Whitehall. On that basis, each year, The King’s Awards for Enterprise recipients are recommended by the Prime Minister.
