Disney has released the much-anticipated third instalment of the Tron franchise – Tron: Ares. Starring Jared Leto, the movie is a stand-alone sequel to the second of the series – Tron: Legacy. Those welcoming Leto into the world include Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jodie Turner-Smith. There is also a signature voiceover ending from Jeff Bridges, reprising his role as Kevin Flynn.
Flynn was a computer programmer and video game developer in the original 1982 Tron. He was transported inside the software world of a mainframe computer where he interacted with programmes in his attempt to escape.
Tron: Ares is the long-planned follow up, 15 years and counting, to Tron: Legacy. The 90 second trailer doesn’t say much about the story but shows plenty of the movie’s visuals, which look dark, moody, and filled with the series’ signature light trails. On the film score front fans, can enjoy the hard-core rock rhythms of Tron’s predecessors.
The film hits the big screens on October 10.
