After much waiting and toing and froing with potential and actual strikes, Brand Licensing Europe, BLE, is flinging its doors open this morning for the annual three-day trade show.
With London Underground staff calling off their industrial action on Tuesday after “significant progress” in talks with TfL, exhibitors and visitors should find it somewhat easier to make it to ExCeL, east London via nearby station Custom House.
The national rail strike scheduled to take place on today’s opening are still taking place,
As noted yesterday, organisers are keeping the additional measures they had introduced to try and offset the effects of the strikes, including an extra drinks reception and tweaked opening hours.
And as Informa Markets’ SVP for licensing Anna Knight said yesterday: “We are delighted with this latest development and look forward to welcoming everyone to BLE tomorrow for what is preparing to be a successful event! Exhibitors are putting the final touches on their stands, the show floor is looking great and we are excited to share that the event can resume with minimal disruption.”
Wednesday’s events include the character parade and opening night drinks on the show floor, as well as a keynote, Passing GO looking at bringing Monopoly to the experience market and, again, tying in with this year’s theme, a look at location based entertainment trends.
