A Peak District  Monopoly

A brand-new Monopoly: Peak District edition game, celebrating the beauty and heritage of the region, is now available to buy. This release features three of the Peak District’s most iconic inns and boutique hotels: The George at Hathersage, The Ashford Arms, and The Maynard.

The official launch of the game took place at The George, with Mr Monopoly revealing a giant replica of the board. This edition highlights the very best of the Peak District, including its most-loved landmarks, tourism hotspots and premier hospitality offerings.

More than 30 local organisations and charities are featured on the board, with Longbow Venues securing all three yellow squares for The George at Hathersage, The Ashford Arms, and The Maynard.

In addition to the bespoke squares, the Chance and Community Chest cards are customised too. One Community Chest card even rewards players with an afternoon tea at The Maynard.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have Longbow Venues featured in the Monopoly: Peak District Edition. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate everything that makes this region so special”

When it was announced last year that the region is getting its very own version of the world’s most popular board game, the public was invited to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to feature in the game.

Rob Hattersley, MD and founder of Longbow Venues, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Longbow Venues featured in the Monopoly: Peak District Edition. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate everything that makes this region so special. Our inns and hotels reflect the heart of the Peak District, and it’s wonderful to see them recognised in such an iconic game. This is a real testament to the hard work of our teams and our commitment to providing outstanding experiences for all our guests.”

Winning Moves UK, an official partner, has produced the brand-new Monopoly: Peak District edition board game, under license from Hasbro.

John Keen-Tomlinson, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK, said: “We have been wonderfully spoilt with choices when putting this Monopoly board together. We produce official Monopoly games based on places all over the world, including in recent years, Palm Beach, Dubai, Phuket and The Hamptons. Now the Peak District has joined the world’s Monopoly elite!”

Bakewell and Buxton land the game’s two top spots (that’s Mayfair and Park Lane from the classic original). Other twists see Pine Lodge Holidays on a green square – and in place of a tax square, is a command to ‘Buy Hiking Equipment!’

Fans of the iconic board game will also find that the counters have been uniquely customised to reflect the essence of the Peak District.

This year marks 90 years of Monopoly. As the world’s favourite family game brand, with over one billion players in 114 countries, it is more than just a game – it’s a global phenomenon.
